Jason Nicholson - TAV Technical Director / North Coordinator
Jason has been coaching volleyball for 17 years. He has coached at all levels- club, high school, and college. He is entering his 13th season at TAV. While at TAV Jason has won 2 Open National Championships, and qualified a team in the open division the last10 years.
Jason is also the Head Coach at JJ Pearce High School in Richardson. JJ Pearce has become one of the most successful 4A programs in the State over the last four seasons. The Mustangs had a 45-5 and record in 2010 and lost in the State Semi-finals.
Angela Delz
Angela grew up in GISD playing Varsity at South Garland. She played club for Texas Assault for 4 years and also played for the Aggie club team while attending Texas A&M. While in College Station Angela started her coaching career with Brazos Valley Volleyball Club. After returning back to Dallas she has coached with Texas Assault and Skyline. She is also a Middle School coach in GISD.
Brett Townsend
Brett has been involved with volleyball as a player, scout, coach, and general manager for over 25 years. He has worked in all levels of volleyball—high school, Junior Olympic Club, college, and professional. He is entering his 10th year as a club volleyball coach and his sixth year at TAV.
Brett has coached over 50 players that have gone on to play college volleyball, with over 35 of them playing at Division I universities, including 2 eventual All-Americans. His teams have finished in first place in over a combined 35 tournaments, including 5 National Qualifiers.
Jordan Thomas
Jordan started her volleyball career at the age of 13 playing club volleyball as a setter. She played for a total of 6 years for Texas Advantage and North Dallas Juniors. Jordan was also the starting setter for Carroll Senior High School Dragons. She led the Dragons to a Bi-District Championship. Jordan was named top setter in DFW area by the Dallas Morning News and Fort Worth Star-Telegram and won the elite award "C" award her senior year at Carroll Senior High School.
After high school Jordan went on to play Collegiate D1 Volleyball for the Georgia State Panthers. She became the starting setter in 2005 and was averaging just below 12.0 overall average assists per set.
This is Jordan's second year of coaching club volleyball. In the 2010-2011 club season Jordan coached Kahuna 12:1 Rox's Team under Brett Townsend. This will be Jordan and Brett's second season coaching together.
Sommer Johnson
Sommer grew up just outside Wichita Falls where she played for Holliday High School. She played club volleyball for Red River Volleyball club and played club volleyball for the Red Raider club team while attending Texas Tech.
Sommer is a graduate from Texas Tech University with an Exercise Sports Science Degree. She is in her 7th year of coaching in Garland ISD. This will be her 8th season to coach club. She has coached 12’s, 13’s, 14’s, 16’s, and 18’s. In 2010 her team qualified to compete at Junior Nationals.
Corrinne Atchision
Corinne has been coaching volleyball for 12 years. She has coached at all levels- club, high school, and college. She is entering her 2nd season at TAV after leaving another club where she worked for 10 years has a head coach and director. Corinne worked with Jason and TAV 15 VBR Black in 2011 which won an AAU Open National Championship and finished 2nd at the USA Open National Championships. She has qualified a team for Nationals 10 times in her 12 year coaching career.
Corinne is also the Head JV and Varsity Assistant Coach at John Paul II High School in Plano.
Megan Osborn
Megan played for TAV and Southlake Carroll in high school for which she earned a college scholarship to play for the University of Louisiana at Monroe. In 2008 she was accepted into the Journalism Department at the University of Arkansas and graduated with her Bachelors in Broadcast Journalism in 2010. While in college Megan refereed high school games. She has given private lessons to 13 and 14 year olds. Megan has been coaching for TAV for two years and hopes to continue to coaching here as well as teach and coach in the public education system.
Amber Davis
Amber is currently playing college volleyball at Richaland College as a libero. She has played volleyball the last 9 years at Rowlett High School and Tx Assault Volleyball where she enjoyed much success. She began her coaching career last season as the Assault 12’s assistant
Darren Smith
Darren has been a player, coach, referee, and general volleyball enthusiast for 20+ years. He has coached boys with Addison Volleyball Club and girls with Kahuna Volleyball Club in the North Texas region. He is entering his 6th year as a club volleyball coach. During the summers of 2009-2010 Darren was a coach and tournament manager with the Kahuna Beach outdoor program. Darren is also an experienced referee at the USAV adult and junior club level, as well as junior high and high school levels. |
